One of the many projects on the list for our new home is a kitchen garden. We cook quite regularly so a produce-yielding backyard would certainly prove both convenient and cost-effective. We thought an herb box would be a great way to start! Continue reading to see how we built an elevated box for our herbs!
Budget. I shudder at the word! Before I got married I had a phobia of my own bank account. I was terrified of logging in – terrified of facing those single digits (or even negative digits on occasion.) Let’s just say I got really good at talking my way out of overdraft fees. Looking back, I think a simple budget and a little discipline would’ve gone a long way. Speaking of looking back, let’s look alllll the way back to those first days of making money…
Death to the Stock Photo is a fresh alternative to “big box” stock photography websites. Not only are their photos completely gorgeous, but a portion of their premium membership fees help fund creative projects around the world. Now that’s the kind of company I love to support!
Simply subscribe to their email list and each month you’ll receive a new series of photographs to use on your blog, social media or other outlets. Want the specifics on how to appropriately use their photos? Read the “Plain English” License here.

Earlier this year, along with millions of other viewers, Matt and I instantly fell in love with HGTV’s new show, Fixer Upper.
Being hands-on people ourselves, and being a married couple who thrives when working on projects together, we instantly related to Chip and Joanna Gaines.
Maybe we’re naive, but it’s certainly encouraging (and inspiring!) watching two extremely talented people, who seem to have an extremely strong marriage, featured on a major network.
Though the before/after design aspect is certainly the main theme of Fixer Upper, Chip and Joanna’s solid family dynamic can’t help but shine through.
We are counting the days until season 2 begins! In the meantime, I’d love to know which Season 1 Fixer Upper episode is YOUR favorite.
