I love the contrast of this season – we are surrounded by warm bright Christmas decorations in the midst of these cold months. Decorating our home for Christmas certainly helps lessen the chill of winter!
We went with colorful C-9 lights for our tree this year and I’m loving the extra warmth of their glow! Have you decorated your home for Christmas? I’d love to see pictures!
Tradition (noun): the transmission of customs or beliefs from generation to generation, or the fact of being passed on in this way.
Growing up, after decorating for Christmas we would sip eggnog solely by the light of tree.
Matt and I have since adopted the tradition, but with a slightly more fun eggnog recipe… Enjoy!
Martha’s Classic Egg Nog (adapted)
3/4 oz Bourbon
1/2 oz Cognac
1/4 oz Dark Rum
Top with Egg Nog
Stir ingredients well and garnish with nutmeg and a cinnamon stick
(This is what happens when you’re not careful with the nutmeg.)
What traditions did you grow up with?
What traditions do you still celebrate?
What a way to warm our new home! It was a certainly a memorable Thanksgiving with our family – and I’m not ashamed to say that we had a total pajama party! Everyone stayed over for a weekend full of nothing but eating leftovers and vegging out.
The new recipes we tried were even better than we’d hoped! The honey orange ham turned out beautifully which was quite a relief since I’ve never done a ham before!
Here are a few snapshots of the festivities taken by me and my brother-in-law, Ben…
Where did you spend your Thanksgiving? Somewhere traditional? Somewhere new?
What dish were you in charge of cooking or baking?
